V0.1 Samsara: Sword of Seasonal Sorrow


Hello friends!

Today marks the first day of the game jam and our first team meeting all-together! We are starting with a team of 12 budding or already established developers. While we felt our kick-off meeting having two hours to discuss was ample time, we learned towards the latter half that either too much time was spent for debate or not enough time was allotted for the meeting. While many important concepts were decided on (see below!), many more were left for further discussion later on.  That being said, having so many passionate developers in one call was inspiring and I believe every member left the meeting buzzing with so many ideas and directions we could go! Much of our direction will be decided from the imaginations of our Art team to help scope the project while our programming team helps set up the bones.

Stay tuned because we will be documenting our additions and fixes in subsequent DevLogs!

Dev Notes:

  • The theme of the game jam was revealed to be cycles. Stay tuned to find out how we plan to include this theme!
  • Made the decision to create a 2.5d arena brawler game inspired from the campaign modes from earlier Smash bros titles.
  • Began concept art for some enemies and the player character.
  • Began template script design for our Arena Brawler in Unity.
  • Began composition samplings for game tone.
  • SFX for menu buttons and clicks generated.
